How Bears United Magazine collects and uses personal information

 

Bears united Magazine takes the privacy of its members very seriously. We appreciate that not all of our members are “out” and we will endeavour to never abuse the trust our members put in us.

Under the law, we are allowed to collect and process your data because you have formed a contract with Bears united Magazine by becoming a member or have given consent by signing up for our Newsletter or making a purchase through our website.

How we collect personal information

Ways in which you may be providing us with personal information include, for example:

  • registering on our site;

  • signing up for a newsletter;

  • signing up for a magazine;

  • signing up for membership or discounts;

  • contacting us with an enquiry;

  • Entering a competition, promotion or survey;

  • reporting a problem; and/or

  • giving us some feedback.

We collect your name, postal address, email address, and date of birth. Members may additionally provide their phone number but are not required to.

How we use this information

 

Sending out membership cards and other related information, communicating directly with members on Club-related matters, and reminding members that their membership is due to expire. Date of birth is collected to ensure members are of legal adult age in the UK.

How long we keep this information

​

If a member does not renew, we will remove them from our database six months after their membership expires, or earlier on request.

Signing up for our newsletter

What we collect

We collect your name and email address. This is administered separately from the membership database via Wix. You should be aware that Wix  has its own privacy statement. Although Wix is based outside the EU, it is compliant with Privacy Shield.

How we use this information

​

We use this information to email the Bears united Magazine and occasional other Event communications.

How long we keep this information

​

We will keep this information for as long as the subscriber wishes to receive the Newsletter. Subscribers can unsubscribe at any time using the link provided in the emails. If we get an Undelivered notification, we will remove that email address within one month.

How we will not use your information

We will not use or disclose personal information of our members in any other way, except where required to by law enforcement agencies.

Using our website

We do not use third-party analytics on our website. However, we cannot prevent third party services such as Facebook or Google from knowing you have visited our website.

Articles maybe be shared and links to those articles maybe to external third party sites which we do not have any control over, for these articles and sites we would suggest also to look at there privacy policy before providing any information or data.

Photography and videos at events

Please be aware that we often have a volunteer photographer at our events and the photos will be published in our Facebook group and other social media channels we operate. Individuals will not be identified in these photos. If you not wish to appear in the photographs, please advise the photographer. We will remove any photo you appear in on request.
